Abstract
These papers provided as my BS thesis, are going to study and review
the "Slope Stability Assessment Methods and Applying those Methods to
an Existing Case" (About 100 pages). It has been tried in this thesis,
to consider the practical aspects of project as far as possibility, in
order to be a reliable source for further studies (It has been done
under the supervision of Dr. M. Mosavi and Eng. F. Rafia.).
This essay includes four chapters:
1 – The main goal of the first chapter is reviewing rock
classifications. In this chapter, it has been tried to mention the
common classifications and discuss their developmental progress.
2 – The role of slopes in assigning the rock classifications is
discussed in the second chapter. I have considered the slope
classifications, while mentioning the advantages and disadvantages of
each of them.
3 – In the third chapter, the Slope Mass Rating (SMR) has been
discussed in detail and some feasible methods have been proposed to
support measurements.
4 – In the last or fourth chapter, I applied the slope stability
methods especially SMR to a report by KCE (Kavoshgaran Consulting
Engineers). In this research, based on both analytic studies and slope
classifications, supporting methods were suggested. At last, by
comparing different classifications the best and the most practical
classification for slopes has been proposed (Both using computer
software and analytic studies were concerned for applying
classifications to a real case study).
